Bio of Bishnu

Bishnu C Parida is a Development Management Professional working for Rural Livelihood and Social Development sector of India for last 20 years. His life mission is Sustainable Development and a better world for all human beings.

Presently he is working as a Chief Operating Officer (COO) of Jharkhand State Livelihood Promotion Society – JSLPS  (Department of Rural Development, Govt. of Jharkhand) since 22nd June 2013 and leads over 1,500+ staff and 6,500 + Community Cadres in the implementation of National Rural Livelihood Mission (DAY – NRLM) – the flagship scheme of MoRD, Govt of India in Jharkhand.  As on 31st Dec. 2017, DAY – NRLM had reached 15 Lakh rural poor families through 1,15,000 Women SHGs in 200 blocks in 24 districts of Jharkhand. Out of above families around 2 Lakh families are undertaking various livelihoods i.e. Agriculture (Paddy, Vegetable, Pulses etc.) Horticulture (Mango plantation), Animal Husbandry (Goat, Pig, Backyard Poultry and Duck rearing), Lac cultivation etc.

Earlier he had worked as  Dy. CEO, SSUPSW (Deptt. of Social Welfare, Govt. of Bihar), as SPO, UNDP India (in Jharkhand), as Team Leader, PRADAN (Odisha and Jharkhand) and Educational Trainee, RSC (NCSM), Govt of India in Odisha. He has successfully implemented a wide spectrum of development and welfare projects for World Bank, DFID, UNDP, WFP, ICCO, ICEF, SRTT, IGSSS, PRADAN, NABARD, Planning Commission & MoRD (Govt. of India), State Governments of Odisha, Bihar and Jharkhand in his 20 years of professional career. He has operational expertise of leading large scale projects and development schemes. He has experience in Managing Multi-stakeholders, developing partnership and collaboration and influencing development professionals, senior  govt. officials and policy makers for development work

He topped (Gold Medalist) in his class of MRM (M. Phil) in Natural Resource Management from Indian Institute of Forest Management (IIFM), Bhopal in 2005. He also has a Master of Social Work (MSW) – Visva-Bharati University, Santiniketan, 1995, 1st Class (2nd Topper) and a B.Sc. (Physics Honours) with 1st class distinction – Utkal University, Odisha, 1991.  Recently (2015) he has completed an eMDP on “Senior Leadership Programme (SLP)” from Indian Institute of Management (IIM), Kozhikode.

Mr. Parida’s professional highlights include initiating and establishing a new Women’s Development Project in Mayurbhanj district of Odisha while in PRADAN from 2000 to 2006. Presently the project is benefiting more than 15,000 families (75, 000 population) through 1,000 women SHGs & livelihoods activities. He is also credited with building new teams and setting up the initial operational systems in SSUPSW (Bihar) and JSLPS (Jharkhand)

His hobbies are reading, writing, watching TV news, traveling, photography, making friendship and networking with wide range of people. He is very active in Social Network Sites i.e. LinkedIn, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Blogs, YouTube. He occasionally writes for organizational newsletters and prepares documents for development sector. He has interest in Development Sector, Environment, Science and Technology. He was a Football & Kabadi Player during his collage days.

Bishnu belongs to Odisha state of republic of India. His wife Matanjali is a home maker with a passion for Cooking. His only daughter Shubhra who is 15 years old reads in Std. – IX at Ranchi.
